Short or long captions?

First of: Hello again. I will now try to post a caption every day again: But here's my question: Do you prefer shorter captions (like the last few) or rather longer captions (like older captions of mine). I'm not really sure, maybe the best would be alternating between them? What do you think? (Please answer in comments)

  1. As someone who has wrestled with this question in writing my own caption blog, there might be a sort of 'sweet spot' between long and short captions. Personally, I love more description, more clever words. But still, I mean, it depends very much on the image and the story you want to tell. I like your longer captions, since they describe the character transformation a bit better. But there are just some pictures that tease the reader's imagination, so you can write shorter story prompts (the latest archery one, for example). For instance, does a photo by itself just make you smile? Then go for a shorter one. Does a pic call up multiple possibilities in your mind? Maybe longer. Anyway, my apologies for the long-ish comment, but you asked and I'm a fan of your creations and hope that you will keep on capping. *hugs to you,* Sippy (can I call you Sippy? oops, i just did ;) -k

    1. Lot's of good thoughts in here, couldn't agree more. The archery one is a great example, I didn't want to do it any longer since the image speaks for itself to a point.

The thing with the sweet spot is it's sometimes hard to hit. But don't expect too many or clever words from me as English is not my native language (as you can probably tell).

    2. Also cool to see that some other Cappers like my caps as well.

  2. Certainlty a fan of many captionists and I like a different mixture of lengths. The one's that kill me are long stories, I like to leave some of it up to imagination with the picture and a good description of the events with the caption itself.

  3. Similar to current length. But longer is also fine.

  4. I prefer longer. They ought to stand out from the generic "Hur-Dur I'm a woman." A picture might be worth a thousand words, but it's more grounded with a story.

  5. After reading all those comments, I think I will vary the length a bit. It will never get too short (that's boring) and rarely too long (I read captions mostly on mobile so I hate having ones that are too big, they can be very hard to read, same reason why I mostly have the text at the side of the captions). Most will probably have a medium length.
